Cripta Rasponi e Giardini Pensili - Ravenna

The Cripta Rasponi is a small aristocratic chapel, never actually intended for the family’s deceased and is the oldest preserved part of the architectural complex of Palazzo Rasponi - on which the Palazzo della Provincianow stands - probably dating from the late eighteenth century.
The crypt consists of three rooms, the most significant part being the mosaic floor, made by assembling a number of randomly arranged pieces, originally from Classe and probably from the ancient (6th century) church of San Severo.

The entrance to the crypt and the adjoining Giardini Pensili(Hanging Gardens) is situated under the Palazzo della Provincia portico on the south side of Piazza San Francesco.
